Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Mps. Kaila Quintal (William Hammel × roezlii), commonly called a Miltassia-type orchid, is an intergeneric hybrid grown for its star-shaped, spider-like blooms and patterned coloration. Native lineage traces to Central and South American epiphytic orchids that grow attached to trees in bright, airy conditions. What makes this plant special is the narrow, elongated petals with bold spotting or striping and its ability to produce multiple blooms on a single spike. The plant grows from pseudobulbs with thin, strap-like leaves and a slightly arching growth habit.

Light requirements
Place Mps. Kaila Quintal in an east or south window for the best growth and flowering, positioned at the window or within 1 to 2 feet depending on intensity. A west window can work if monitored for heat, while a north window will reduce blooming potential. Under grow lights, use 5000K to 6500K and keep the light 8 to 12 inches above the canopy. It performs best around 400 to 1,000 foot-candles. Consistent bright light is key for spike development.

Watering & environment
Allow the media to dry about halfway to mostly dry between waterings, and always check the root zone before watering. Use a well-draining orchid mix with strong airflow around the roots. This plant prefers moderate humidity, warm temperatures, and good air movement to prevent rot.

What your plant is telling you
If pseudobulbs begin to wrinkle, it is ready for water. If the base softens or roots decline, the media is staying too wet. If growth is strong but no flower spike forms, it needs more consistent light.
