Button Ferns, native to New Zealand, prefer bright, indirect light. Indoors, place them near an east- or north-facing window where they receive filtered sunlight. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch their delicate, round leaflets. Outdoors, they thrive in shaded areas with dappled light. Rotating the fern occasionally ensures even growth and prevents leaning. Proper light is essential for maintaining vibrant, healthy fronds.

Water the Button Fern regularly to keep the soil lightly moist, but not soggy. Allow the top inch of soil to dry between waterings. During warmer months, check soil moisture every few days, while in cooler months, water less frequently. Overwatering can lead to root rot, while underwatering may cause fronds to brown and curl.

Use a well-draining, rich potting mix designed for ferns or houseplants. Button Ferns prefer moderate humidity, so occasional misting or placing a tray of water nearby can help. Fertilize once a month during the growing season with a balanced, diluted houseplant fertilizer.
