Anthurium Clarinervium 4”

Anthurium clarinervium, native to southern Mexico, is a compact, velvety anthurium known for its thick, heart-shaped leaves with bold white veining against a deep green background. The foliage is firm and slightly raised along the veins, giving it a sculptural, high-contrast look. It stays relatively low and structured, making it a strong statement plant without needing a lot of space.

Light should be bright and filtered to maintain leaf size and vein definition. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets steady light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too much direct sun can damage the velvety surface and cause fading, while too little light will result in smaller leaves with less pronounced veining.

Watering and environment need to stay consistent. Allow the soil to lightly dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep the roots airy while holding some moisture. If new leaves are coming in smaller with less defined veining, it is not getting enough light. If the velvety leaves lose their richness or appear dull, conditions are off, often light related. Crisping along the edges while the rest of the leaf stays firm points to low humidity or inconsistent moisture rather than overwatering.
