Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

The Alocasia scalprum, Alocasia scalprum, is a narrow-leaf, collector Alocasia native to the Philippines, known for its elongated, blade-like leaves with a slightly metallic sheen and ridged texture. The foliage grows upright and tight, giving it a sleek, almost sculpted look compared to broader Alocasias. This is a slower, more controlled grower, and the value is in the unique leaf shape and texture rather than size or speed.

Light requirements start with direction. Place it in an east or bright north-facing window for consistent, gentle light. It can handle a west window if pulled back 3–5 feet, but avoid direct harsh sun on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K positioned 10–14 inches from the canopy. This is a medium-light Alocasia, and consistent light is key to maintaining structure without stress.

Watering and environment need to stay precise. Let the soil dry about halfway down, then water thoroughly and allow it to drain completely. Always check the root zone with a chopstick or meter before watering. This plant does not tolerate sitting wet and is prone to root issues if overwatered. Use a chunky, airy mix with strong drainage. Leaves softening or yellowing point to too much moisture, drooping with firmness signals it’s ready for water, and slowed growth often ties back to low light. Keep humidity moderate, temperatures warm, and airflow steady.
