Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Alocasia lauterbachiana, native to Southeast Asia, is a striking alocasia known for its long, narrow, sword-like leaves with deeply serrated edges and a rich green surface contrasted by a deep purple underside. The leaves grow upright in a slightly arching form, giving it a dramatic, almost spiky appearance that stands out from broader-leaf alocasias. It adds height and movement while still maintaining a structured look.

Light supports both leaf size and that defined shape. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. Too little light will result in narrower, smaller leaves with less defined serration, while stronger light keeps the foliage fuller and more structured.

Watering and environment need to stay consistent. Keep the soil lightly moist, never soggy and never fully dried out, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep it airy. If new leaves are coming in thinner with less pronounced edges, it is not getting enough light. If leaves begin to droop while the soil is still wet, it points to excess moisture at the roots. Browning along the edges while the rest of the leaf stays firm often indicates low humidity or inconsistent moisture rather than overwatering.
