Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Alocasia cuprea, commonly called mirror plant, is a tropical plant native to Borneo known for its thick, highly reflective leaves with a metallic sheen in shades of deep green, red, and copper. What makes this plant special is its surface—the leaves look almost lacquered or mirror-like, with a rigid, sculpted structure that gives it a bold, high-end appearance.

Light drives both color intensity and leaf structure. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the metallic sheen dulls and leaves come in smaller with less defined shape. Strong, even light keeps the leaves thicker, more reflective, and more structured.

Watering and environment need to stay consistent. Keep the soil lightly moist, never soggy and never fully dried out, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to maintain airflow. This plant reacts quickly—if leaves collapse or soften while the soil is wet, the roots are staying too saturated. If the surface loses its shine or new leaves are smaller, it’s reacting to light or humidity, not needing more water.
