Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Alocasia ‘Loco’, a hybrid alocasia from Southeast Asian lineage, is known for its heavily textured, curled foliage with exaggerated veining and dramatic leaf shape. What makes this plant special is its distorted, almost ruffled appearance—the leaves twist, cup, and ripple in ways that make each one look sculpted and unusual compared to smoother alocasias.

Light drives both leaf texture and overall structure. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the leaves lose some of their dramatic texture and the plant stretches with longer petioles. Strong, even light keeps the foliage thicker, more compact, and more defined.

Watering and environment need to stay very consistent. Keep the soil lightly moist, never soggy and never fully dried out, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to maintain airflow around the roots. This plant reacts quickly to stress—if leaves collapse while the soil is wet, the roots are staying too saturated. Crisping edges while the leaf stays firm usually point to humidity swings. Smaller new leaves or flatter texture typically signal lower light rather than needing more water.
