Aglaonema Red Army 2.5”

Aglaonema ‘Red Army’ is a colorful tropical plant from Southeast Asian Aglaonema lineage, known for its broad leaves patterned with deep green, red, pink, and burgundy tones. What makes this plant special is the amount of red coloration throughout the foliage, giving it a much warmer, bolder appearance than traditional green Aglaonemas. Its compact, bushy growth habit makes it an easy statement plant without requiring climbing support.

Light drives both coloration and compact growth. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it receives bright, consistent light without prolonged harsh sun hitting the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. It can tolerate lower light, but the red and pink coloration will become less intense and growth will slow. Strong, even light produces brighter color, shorter stems, and fuller growth.

Allow the soil to partially dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and let the excess drain away. Use a well-aerated mix of 1/3 succulent soil, 1/3 coarse orchid bark, and 1/3 grade 3–4 perlite. Aglaonemas prefer warmth and steady conditions but do not need constantly wet soil or extremely high humidity. Good airflow around the plant and root zone helps prevent moisture from sitting too long.

Watch the leaves for its clearest signals. Slightly drooping or softer leaves with a dry root zone indicate it is ready for water, while yellowing lower leaves with wet soil point to excess moisture. New leaves emerging smaller or increasingly green usually indicate it needs stronger light. Brown or crispy edges can develop from inconsistent moisture, very dry air, or mineral buildup, while a softening stem or crown is a warning that the root zone has remained wet for too long.
