Hoya Kerrii ‘Heart Albo’ (variegated Sweetheart Hoya) originates from the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, especially Thailand and surrounding areas, where it grows as a climbing or trailing epiphyte. In the wild, it receives filtered, dappled light beneath tree canopies, which allows its thick, heart-shaped, variegated leaves to develop without burning. This natural environment guides how it should be cared for indoors.

As a houseplant, Hoya Kerrii ‘Heart Albo’ thrives in bright, indirect light, ideally from an east-facing window that gives mild morning sun. A bright north-facing exposure can also work, as long as the light is steady. Because variegated leaves contain less chlorophyll, this plant needs more brightness than its fully green counterparts—just avoid intense, direct afternoon sunlight from west- or south-facing windows, which can scorch or wash out the variegation.

For even growth, rotate the plant every couple of weeks so all sides receive equal illumination. If your space is dim, a full-spectrum grow light angled slightly above the plant can provide the soft yet bright light it prefers.
