Amydrium zippelianum is a rare tropical aroid native to Southeast Asia, including regions of Indonesia and the Philippines. It’s known for its long, glossy green leaves that develop deep fenestrations (natural holes or splits) as the plant matures—similar to a Monstera but with a more elongated, dramatic look. This climbing or trailing beauty brings a wild, jungle-like vibe to any indoor space and is still relatively uncommon in houseplant collections.

This plant thrives in bright, indirect light, best near an east- or west-facing window. It can handle some dappled morning or late afternoon sun, but avoid harsh, direct midday rays which may scorch the foliage. Like most tropical aroids, it prefers a loose, airy soil mix—combine potting soil with orchid bark, perlite, and a bit of coco coir or moss for moisture retention without sogginess. Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry.

High humidity and warm temperatures will help Amydrium zippelianum grow more quickly and produce larger, fenestrated leaves. Support it with a moss pole or trellis to encourage vertical growth and mature foliage.
