String of Things — also called “Trailing Succulents” — are charming, low-maintenance houseplants known for their cascading vines and whimsical shapes. Each variety brings something special to your space, from the pea-like String of Pearls (Senecio rowleyanus) to the heart-shaped String of Hearts (Ceropegia woodii). Other popular types include String of Dolphins, String of Bananas, String of Turtles, and String of Tears. These plants are beloved by collectors for their unique appearance, trailing habits, and ability to thrive in small spaces with just a little attention.
Light is crucial for the happiness of these plants. Most string varieties prefer bright, indirect light, with a few tolerating some direct morning sun. East or south-facing windows are ideal, but they should be shielded from intense afternoon rays, which can scorch their leaves. If your plant starts to stretch out or “etiolate,” it’s a sign it needs more light. For the best growth and fullness, rotate your plant every couple of weeks to ensure even exposure and avoid one-sided growth.
Watering is one of the most important (and trickiest) parts of care. These plants are semi-succulent, so they hold water in their leaves and don’t need frequent watering. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly in the winter months. Overwatering is the number one killer — especially in string plants, which have thin stems that are prone to rot. Always use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix and pots with drainage holes. If your string plant looks shriveled, it’s probably thirsty. If it’s mushy or dropping leaves, you’ve watered too much.
To keep your strings lush and happy, prune lightly to encourage fuller growth and prevent legginess. Fertilize during the growing season (spring through summer) with a diluted succulent fertilizer about once a month. String of Things love airflow, so don’t overcrowd them. And while they can tolerate lower humidity, they do appreciate a slightly humid environment — especially String of Hearts and String of Turtles. With a little light, airflow, and the right watering routine, these graceful trailers will keep on growing and trailing beautifully for years to come.

from 337 reviewsShipping was very fast and plants arrived in perfect condition. They were wrapped in a way that didn't take a chainsaw to get them unwrapped. Plants were beautiful and healthy-bigger than expected. Loved the whole experience
I love my Philodendron Lupinum! I said I'm in gardening zone 9a and I feel like I was heard with this selection. This was a great first pull for my choice of being surprised. From my understanding, this isn't a plant you would normally find at a big box store either. She was so very carefully packaged when I opened her. I'm so glad I found this small business to support. Thank you and keep 'em coming! :)
This plant is stunning. I love it way more than I thought. Great condition. Superb packaging.
