Pothos ‘Shangri La’ is a unique and eye-catching cultivar that stands out from typical pothos varieties due to its heavily crinkled, twisted foliage. Each leaf curls inward like a scroll, giving the plant a sculptural, almost fantasy-like appearance. While it shares the same hardy genetics as other pothos, ‘Shangri La’ is a rarer find and often prized by collectors for its unusual texture. Like many pothos, it traces its origins to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia and the Solomon Islands, thriving in warm, humid climates.

For best results indoors, place your ‘Shangri La’ in bright, indirect light—such as a few feet from a west- or east-facing window. Too little light may cause the plant to grow more slowly and reduce the characteristic twisting of the leaves, while too much direct sunlight can lead to scorching. It prefers a chunky, well-draining soil mix, and watering should be done only when the top inch of the soil is dry. This pothos enjoys average household humidity but will thrive even more with a slight boost in moisture.

Maintenance is simple: occasional pruning helps control shape and encourages new growth, while monthly fertilizing during the growing season supports lush, compact foliage. Keep leaves clean by gently wiping them with a damp cloth to remove dust, which allows them to photosynthesize more efficiently. ‘Shangri La’ is a slow to moderate grower, but its whimsical look makes it a standout centerpiece in any indoor plant display.
