The Alocasia ‘Puncakborneensis’ is a rare and exotic aroid native to the tropical rainforests of Borneo. It’s highly prized for its deep green, almost black leaves with a slightly metallic sheen, prominent veins, and dramatic, upright growth. Its large, sculpted foliage gives it a bold, architectural presence, making it a standout in any collection of rare tropical plants.

This Alocasia thrives in warm, humid conditions with well-draining soil that stays evenly moist but never waterlogged. It benefits from regular misting or a humidity tray to replicate its rainforest habitat, and it prefers temperatures consistently above 65°F. Like other Alocasias, it appreciates good air circulation and should be protected from cold drafts or sudden temperature drops.

Direction of light: The Alocasia ‘Puncakborneensis’ prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its rich, dark foliage. Direct sunlight can scorch its delicate leaves, while insufficient light may cause slower growth and smaller, duller leaves. A north- or east-facing window is ideal, or filtered light from a south- or west-facing window to ensure your plant thrives and retains its dramatic color.
