The Farfugium japonicum 'Firefly' is a unique and eye-catching foliage plant, known for its glossy, round leaves splashed with bright yellow spots. Native to Japan and parts of East Asia, this plant thrives in moist, shaded environments along forest floors and stream banks. In home gardens and indoor spaces, it’s prized for its ornamental leaves and compact growth habit.

For indoor care, Farfugium 'Firefly' prefers bright, indirect light or partial shade. A north or east-facing window works well, or place it slightly away from a brighter window to avoid direct sun, which can scorch its leaves. It does not tolerate intense heat or dry air well, so keeping it in a cooler spot with stable humidity is ideal.

Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, keeping the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Use a rich, well-draining potting mix, and ensure your pot has good drainage. This plant enjoys higher humidity, so consider misting it or placing it near a humidifier. Fertilize monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer, and reduce feeding in the fall and winter when growth slows.
