Wow! The Alocasia ‘Chantrieri’, also known as the Elephant Ear ‘Chantrieri’, is a rare and dramatic tropical plant native to the rainforests of Borneo. It’s admired for its deep green, almost metallic leaves with striking silver veins and a velvety texture that gives it a regal appearance. The undersides of the leaves are a rich maroon, adding a layer of depth and contrast that makes this Alocasia a true statement piece in any collection.

This plant prefers humid, warm conditions with well-draining soil that stays lightly moist but never soggy. It benefits from consistent watering during the growing season and reduced watering in cooler months. Like most Alocasias, it enjoys good airflow and appreciates being kept away from cold drafts or sudden temperature changes.

Direction of light: The Alocasia ‘Chantrieri’ thrives in bright, indirect light—strong enough to maintain its dark coloration but gentle enough to prevent leaf burn. A north- or east-facing window works well indoors, or filtered sunlight if grown near a brighter exposure. Avoid direct midday sun, as its velvety leaves are sensitive and can easily scorch under harsh rays.
