The Rex Begonia is admired for its bold, patterned leaves that come in shades of green, silver, purple, and burgundy. Native to Southeast Asia, it’s a plant that turns heads with its foliage alone, often resembling hand-painted art. Unlike flowering plants, the Rex Begonia’s main beauty is in its dramatic foliage, making it a favorite for adding color and texture indoors.

When it comes to light, Rex Begonias thrive in bright, indirect light from the east or north-facing windows. Too much direct sun, especially from a south or west window, can burn or fade their delicate leaves, while too little light causes colors to dull and growth to slow. Placing them a few feet back from a bright window or filtering the light with a sheer curtain will give them the balance they need to show off their colors.

Allow your Rex Begonia to soil to dry between waterings is key. Rotating your Rex Begonia regularly ensures even growth and helps all sides of the plant receive good light. With the right placement and care, the Rex Begonia can easily become a vibrant centerpiece in your collection.
