Hoya nummularioides is a tropical epiphytic plant native to Southeast Asia, particularly regions of Thailand and surrounding countries. It belongs to the Apocynaceae family and is prized for its trailing vines and clusters of fragrant, star-shaped flowers. In its native habitat, Hoya nummularioides grows attached to trees, thriving in the filtered light and high humidity of tropical forests.

Caring for Hoya nummularioides is relatively easy, making it a popular choice among houseplant enthusiasts. It prefers well-draining soil, such as a mix of orchid bark, perlite, and peat or coco coir. Watering should be moderate — allow the top inch or two of the soil to dry out before watering again. This hoya appreciates higher humidity levels but can adapt to normal indoor conditions. Fertilizing monthly during the growing season with a balanced, diluted fertilizer will support healthy foliage and flowering.

In terms of light, Hoya nummularioides thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sun, especially during the hottest part of the day, can scorch its leaves, while too little light may inhibit blooming and cause leggy growth. A spot near an east-facing window or filtered light from a south-facing window is ideal. Adequate light encourages flowering, which can occur multiple times per year under the right conditions.
