Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Anthurium veitchii, commonly called king anthurium, is an epiphytic plant native to Colombia known for its long, pendant leaves with deep, corrugated ribbing that can grow several feet in length. What makes this plant special is its dramatic, cascading foliage—the leaves hang downward in long straps with heavy texture, giving it a bold, waterfall-like presence.

Light drives both leaf length and ribbing depth. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–14 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, leaves come in shorter with less defined corrugation. Strong, even light encourages longer, more deeply textured foliage.

Watering should stay consistent with strong airflow at the roots. Allow the top portion of the mix to dry slightly, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a very airy mix of orchid bark, perlite, and a small amount of soil to hold light moisture. This plant shows stress through its leaves—if new leaves are shorter or flatter, it’s reacting to light or airflow, not needing more water. If edges brown while the leaf stays firm, it’s often humidity or mineral buildup. If the base softens or declines quickly, the roots are staying too wet rather than drying out.
