The Philodendron peltatum is a rare, fast-climbing aroid prized for its elongated, lobed leaves that get dramatically larger as it matures. Give it a pole or plank to climb and it will reward you with that lush, jungle look collectors love.

Direction of light: aim for bright, indirect light—an east-facing window is ideal for gentle morning sun, and a bright north window works well if it’s close to the glass. If your only options are south or west windows, keep the plant 3–6 ft back or use a sheer curtain to diffuse harsh rays. Signs to watch: bleached/crispy patches = too much sun; small, dark, leggy growth = too little light. Rotate the pot weekly for even growth.

Water when the top 1–2 inches of mix are dry, using a chunky aroid mix (potting soil + orchid bark + perlite + a bit of coco). Keep humidity 50–70%+ and temps 65–85°F; wipe leaves to reduce dust and pests. Feed monthly in spring–summer at half strength, and provide a moss pole or board so the plant can climb and size up its foliage.
