Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Epipremnum aureum ‘Shangri La’, a cultivated pothos from Southeast Asian lineage, is known for its highly curled, twisted leaves that give it a dense, textured, almost sculptural look. What makes this plant special is its distorted leaf form—unlike typical flat pothos leaves, each one folds and curls inward, creating a compact, bushy appearance that stands out immediately.

Light drives how tight the curl stays and how full the plant grows. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the curls can loosen slightly and the plant will stretch with more spacing between leaves. Strong, even light keeps the growth compact and the leaf distortion more pronounced.

Watering should stay balanced and consistent. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark. This plant signals differently than flat-leaf pothos—leaves won’t visibly droop much, so rely on soil dryness more than leaf cues. If stems soften at the base or leaves yellow while the soil is wet, the roots are staying too saturated. If growth becomes spaced out or less compact, it’s reacting to light rather than watering.
