Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Notocactus magnificus (also classified as Parodia magnifica), native to Brazil, is a globular cactus known for its blue-green body with evenly spaced ribs lined with fine golden spines. What makes this plant special is its almost perfectly symmetrical shape paired with that soft blue tone, giving it a clean, sculptural look that becomes more striking as it clusters and matures.

Light drives how compact and rounded the body stays. Place it in a south or west-facing window where it receives strong, direct light. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 6–10 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, the cactus will elongate and lose its round form, becoming stretched rather than tight and symmetrical. Strong light keeps it dense, evenly ribbed, and well-colored.

Watering should be minimal and precise. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it dry again, using a fast-draining mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark. This plant shows stress through its shape—if it begins to stretch upward, it’s a light issue. If the base softens or darkens, the roots are staying too wet. Slight wrinkling while staying firm indicates it’s ready for water, not declining.
