Strawberry Begonia (Saxifraga stolonifera ‘Variegata’), native to East Asia, is a low-growing plant known for its soft, fuzzy round leaves edged in creamy white with a subtle pink outline. What makes this plant special is its trailing runners that produce baby plants, creating a cascading, spreading effect while still maintaining a full, compact center.

Light should be bright but gentle to maintain variegation and leaf health. Place it in an east or north-facing window where it gets steady light without direct sun hitting the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 12–18 inches from the top of the plant. Too much direct sun can burn the soft leaves and fade the edges, while too little light will reduce variegation and slow runner production.

Watering should stay consistent but controlled. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain, avoiding soaking the fuzzy leaves. Use a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark to keep it airy while holding some moisture. If the plant becomes less full or stops producing runners, it is not getting enough light. Crispy edges can indicate low humidity, while yellowing with soft stems points to excess moisture at the roots rather than underwatering.
