Each plant is unique. Size, shape, fullness, and variegation will vary.

Stromanthe sanguinea ‘Triostar’, commonly called Stromanthe Triostar, is a tropical foliage plant grown for its bold variegation and color contrast. Native to the rainforests of Brazil, it belongs to the Marantaceae family and moves its leaves slightly throughout the day. What makes it special is the combination of cream, green, and blush-pink variegation on top with deep pink to burgundy undersides. The leaves are long, paddle-shaped, and slightly pointed, held upright on slender stems, giving it a full, layered, almost painterly look.

Light requirements
Place Stromanthe Triostar in an east window or a few feet back from a south or west window where it gets bright, filtered light without direct sun hitting the leaves. Too much direct light will burn the variegation, while too little will fade the color and slow growth. Under grow lights, use 5000K to 6500K and keep the light about 10 to 14 inches above the canopy. It performs best around 200 to 600 foot-candles. Consistent light is key to maintaining strong color and balanced growth.

Watering & environment
Keep the soil lightly and consistently moist, never fully dry and never saturated. Always check the root zone with a chopstick or meter before watering. Stromanthe Triostar is sensitive to water quality and prefers filtered or distilled water to avoid leaf damage. It thrives in higher humidity with steady airflow and warm temperatures.

What your plant is telling you
If the leaves start to curl inward or edges crisp, it needs more humidity or has dried too much. If leaves yellow or stems soften, the soil is staying too wet. If the variegation fades or growth becomes weak and stretched, it needs more consistent light.
