Sansevieria originates from West Africa, specifically tropical regions of countries like Nigeria, Congo, and other parts of West Africa. It grows in dry, rocky, or well-drained soils and is adapted to survive with minimal water and light, making it an ideal houseplant.

 

  • Light:
    Sansevieria tower (also known as Snake Plant or Mother-in-Law’s Tongue) thrives in bright, indirect light but can also tolerate low light. Avoid direct sunlight as it may scorch the leaves.

  • Watering:
    Sansevieria is very drought-tolerant. Water it only when the soil is dry to the touch, typically every 2–4 weeks. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so ensure the soil has good drainage.

  • Temperature:
    Ideal temperatures range between 60-85°F. They can tolerate some fluctuations but avoid placing it in cold drafts or below 50°F. 

  • Soil:
    Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix to prevent water from accumulating around the roots.

  • Humidity:
    Sansevieria is adaptable and does well in normal room humidity levels. It doesn't require extra humidity or frequent misting.

  • Fertilizing:
    During the growing season (spring and summer), fertilize with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength, but avoid fertilizing in the winter when the plant is dormant.

  • Repotting:
    Sansevieria is a slow grower and doesn't need frequent repotting. Consider repotting only every 2-3 years or when the roots outgrow their pot.

    My plant arrived secured in peanuts, cling wrap at the base, a heat pack in the box also!!! It was cold here in Ohio. It is the perfect bonsai and exact one in the picture. I love it, I’m so happy.

    I ordered the subscription box and was able to pick which plant I wanted for the dollar value of my subscription. Mel helped me find a good plant to help with my air quality in my main living space. She was knowledgeable about the plants’ care and when it arrived the plant did NOT disappoint! It arrived just as gorgeous as it was when I picked it. She shipped it out on Monday and it arrived today, Tuesday. The shipping was crazy fast! The plants were very well packaged with fragile labels on almost every side. There was dirt kicked around in the box, but not as much as I would expect when shipping a pot full of soil. I definitely will recommend 1000 times again! Oh! Also she ships with heat packs! My new babies didn’t have to suffer the cold! ☺️
