Crassula, often associated with the well-known Crassula ovata (commonly known as the jade plant), is a hardy succulent that thrives in springtime, showcasing its lush green leaves and occasional small, star-shaped white or pinkish flowers. These plants generally bloom once a year, typically in late winter or early spring, but flowering is more common in mature plants that have been properly cared for and are grown in ideal conditions. The flowers, while subtle, attract pollinators and add a delicate touch to the plant’s vibrant, fleshy foliage.

Native to Southern Africa, Crassula succulents are well adapted to hot, dry environments, making them relatively low-maintenance. To care for Crassula during the spring, it’s important to provide them with bright, indirect sunlight and well-draining soil, as they are sensitive to waterlogged roots. Water them thoroughly, but allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, as overwatering can lead to root rot. Crassulas prefer temperatures ranging from 65°F to 75°F (18°C - 24°C) and should be protected from frost. In spring, you can feed them with a diluted, balanced fertilizer to promote growth, but avoid fertilizing during the winter months when the plant is dormant.
