Scindapsus 'Treubii Moonlight' is relatively straightforward, as it shares many care requirements with other types of Scindapsus. This beautiful variety is known for its silver-gray leaves with a slight iridescent sheen. Here's how to keep it thriving:

Light

  • Bright, indirect light is ideal for Scindapsus 'Treubii Moonlight.' It can tolerate lower light conditions, but it will grow more slowly and the leaves may lose some of their vibrant color.
  • Avoid direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves.

Watering

  • Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch.
  • Don't overwater; allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
  • In the winter months, reduce watering as the plant's growth slows.

Temperature and Humidity

  • Ideal temperature: 65-85°F (18-29°C). It prefers warmth but can tolerate typical room temperatures.
  • Humidity: It enjoys higher humidity, though it can adapt to average indoor humidity levels. To boost humidity, consider misting the plant or placing it on a humidity tray. In drier environments, a humidifier can help.

Soil

  • Well-draining potting mix is key. A mix for aroids or a combination of regular potting soil with perlite or orchid bark will work well for this plant.
  • Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent water from sitting at the bottom and causing root rot.

Fertilizing

  • Fertilize during the growing season (spring through summer) every 4-6 weeks with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength.
  • Reduce or stop fertilizing in fall and winter when the plant's growth slows.

Repotting

  • Scindapsus 'Treubii Moonlight' generally doesn't need frequent repotting. Repot every 1-2 years, or when the roots outgrow the pot or the soil becomes compacted.
  • Choose a pot that's 1-2 inches larger than the current one to avoid waterlogged soil.

Pruning

  • If the plant becomes leggy or overgrown, prune it back to encourage bushier growth. Cut just above a leaf node to promote new growth.
  • You can propagate the cuttings in water or soil to create new plants.

Pests

  • While Scindapsus plants are relatively pest-resistant, they can occasionally attract pests like spider mites or mealybugs. Check for pests regularly and treat them with insecticidal soap or neem oil if necessary.
