Anthuriums

Anthuriums, commonly known as flamingo flowers or laceleaf, are native to the tropical regions of Central and South America, including countries like Colombia and Ecuador. These plants are prized for their glossy, heart-shaped leaves and their vibrant, long-lasting flowers, which are actually modified spathes that surround a central spadix. Anthuriums thrive in warm, humid environments with indirect light, making them ideal for indoor cultivation. They grow best in well-draining, airy soil rich in organic matter, and they require consistent moisture, though overwatering should be avoided to prevent root rot. These plants prefer temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C) and should be protected from drafts and cold temperatures. Regular feeding during the growing season and occasional misting can help maintain their health and promote blooming. Due to their striking appearance, Anthuriums are often grown as ornamental plants in homes and offices.
